About the Author

J. Steven Murry was a Licensed Professional Counselor for over 15 years. During this time his focus was on youth and adult populations. He worked with Behavioral Health Centers in adult and children’s units, Child Protective Services counseling parents and children, which included services at Residential Treatment facilities and a Wilderness Camp for young men on probation.   He also worked for the Texas Department of Corrections and had a private practice for several years.

Outside of his professional work as a counselor, J Steven is a dedicated husband and father. His non-vocational time was spent in volunteering in several youth oriented activities, such as Boy Scouts of America, PTA, church youth group and leading Children’s Bible Hour. He has been in a church leadership capacity most of his adult life and has taught numerous Bible classes with emphasis in the college and young professional ages.

Recently, J Steven has been a House Parent at an international boarding school for over 10 years.

He received a Bachelor Degree in Psychology and earned his Master Degree in Counseling. He has been married to his wife Melanie for over 40 years and they have a son and a daughter.
